MODERN SPIRITUALISM AND MEDIUMSHIP
The birth of what we recognise as Modern Spiritualism came about from events which occurred in a place called HYDESVILLE in America on the 31st March in the year 1848.
The Fox family were the tenants of the cottage. Rapping's were heard and from the innocence of children at play, Margarita and Kate, the two girls, began to hold conversations with this unseen force of energy, they named Mr Splitfoot, by knocking in response to the rapping's. Many investigations into the workings of Spirit ensued and circles were formed and churches and centres opened.
It was Emma Hardinge Britten who came from America and made the greatest impact on the spiritualism movement, not only did she bring into being the psychic news paper, but, it was through her own mediumship she was given the Principles of Spiritualism by the social reformer Robert Owen.
WHAT IS MEDIUMSHIP ?
As the word medium suggests, somewhere in the middle, we recognise the word mediumship to be someone who acts as a transmitter from the Spirit world to that of the physical world.
Years ago physical mediumship was to the fore, the reason for this was because what could be seen and heard could not be denied, all could see physical manifestations including the uneducated.
All mediumship brings forth the proof that death as we understand is only of the physical body and the real living being which survives all is that of our Spirit energy.
SPIRIT ENERGY
If indeed we are all born in the image of God, we then must realise that God is not physical because the physical dies. If a child is still born without the spark of life in the physical it does not survive within the physical world. That spark of life mentioned must be what we understand to be in the image of God as energy cannot be destroyed and we are all born equal with a divine spark of God spirit energy.
Throughout our lifetime our energy develops into an individual being, of what and whom we are recognised by.
IT IS THIS ENERGY THAT MEDIUMS WORK WITH.
We influence each other by thoughts actions and deeds, our life story held within our own energy field. By drawing closer to another it is possible, by using our senses, to pick up on anothers energy, to read how they feel and to read into their own life. This is a psychic reading.
If we then go a step further, we can use the same method with Spirit, this time Spirit will draw closer to us and influence our senses to relay messages to their loved ones. This using a medium, resulting in A Spirit Reading.
By using varying levels of consciousness we can be influenced by Spirit in many ways. Overshadowing to that of deep trance. The latter known as physical mediumship where the use of a physical medium is necessary in the production of ectoplasm, this used in Spirit manifestations.
Clairvoyance (sight) clairaudience (hearing) clairsentience (sensing) Clair the french word meaning clear. These three senses used in mediumship or a combination of one two or the three of the senses. With normal mediumship Spirit can influence the medium by inspiration, talking, writing or drawing.
